Ma & Pembum

Our Story

I've been sewing and making jewelry for several years just for fun. A few years ago I started experimenting with leather and piecing together little odds and ends that I'd find at antique shops. I started going a little nuts with it and finally realized that I needed to get a hold of myself. (I only have one neck...) Around the same time, I had a disturbing dream about my kids being taken and having no idea where they were. After a lot of prayer, I finally got over the dream but the thing I couldn't stop thinking about was the reality that there are parents out there in the world who don't know where their kids are. I wanted to do something- anything- but what? And like a bolt of lightning to the heart, God put the two together for me. I would keep making all these fun items and donate half of the profits to organizations that strive to end human slavery of all forms. It was a win/win! Donating 50% of my profits is not a once-in-a-while, special occasion type of thing. It is what I do for every sale, as it is the very reason this business exists. So you can feel good about your purchase even more. And, since I get asked this question more than any other, Ma & Pembum is what we called my grandparents. Since about high school, I’d always thought it would make a cool name for a boutique. I never thought I would actually have one!
